What should a Dubai website-maintenance contract actually protect?
A company website may be the first place a customer checks your services, but it is also an operational system. Enquiry forms, analytics, hosting, DNS and integrations can fail without making the homepage visibly disappear. When comparing website maintenance companies in Dubai, ask what the provider will detect, change, recover and report. A package labelled “monthly maintenance” is not a complete scope.
First identify what runs the site: WordPress core, active theme, plugins, hosting platform, form delivery, domain registrar, SSL, backups and connected CRM. Put each dependency on an ownership sheet. The right plan for a brochure website may be inappropriate for a WooCommerce shop or a lead-generation site with custom integrations.
A monthly checklist the account manager can verify
- Availability: review uptime alerts, performance by important page and recent HTTP errors; make alert recipients explicit.
- Updates: record tested core, theme and plugin versions, including what was deferred and why.
- Security: review administrator accounts, MFA, login events and unexpected file or user changes.
- Forms: submit an enquiry through the public form and confirm it reached the intended mailbox or CRM.
- Backups: confirm backup frequency, off-site copy, retention and a recent working restore.
- Search: review major crawl/indexing errors, redirects and analytics anomalies without promising ranking gains.
- Handover: give the client a concise log of changes, risks and next steps.
Response time is not the same as repair time
An SLA should distinguish the time to acknowledge a ticket from the time to apply a fix. For example, “critical issue” might mean that checkout or all contact forms are down; “normal issue” might mean an image crop or a minor content edit. Specify coverage hours in UAE time, emergency contact, excluded vendor outages and escalation. Require a definition of who approves risky updates or changes to live forms.
Pricing: compare boundaries rather than headline monthly rates
Ask each Dubai supplier to quote the same assumptions: number of websites, monthly edit hours, hosting administration, plugin licences, e-commerce responsibility, backup storage, malware cleanup, after-hours work and staging environment. The lowest monthly price may exclude restoration or technical investigation. A useful proposal separates fixed recurring work from billable changes and includes an exit plan for credentials and source files.
What to do before signing or switching suppliers
- Request registrar, DNS, hosting and WordPress administrator access under your company’s control.
- Record the latest recoverable backup and perform an agreed restore test on a safe environment.
- Confirm who pays for premium licences and how renewals are tracked.
- Verify the website’s enquiry email; for Techvenation enquiries use info@techvenation.ae.
- Keep a change log and a signed handover checklist when the old supplier exits.
